New Work!

These are my two contributions to the upcoming Curiosities show at Gallery Nucleus!
If you're in the area, stop by and see them and lots of other pieces in person. And then tell me all about it, because I'm far away on the other coast! Mike Yamada and Victoria Yang will be signing their new book, and there will be a Halloween costume contest too.

Fun fun!

I Want You to Know: The Wonder of God

The book is finished!  It's been printed, and I'm holding a real live copy in my hands (so exciting!).

This is the first book of the I Want You to Know series, and is available on its website right now.  It will also be on Amazon.com shortly.  There is a great blog if you want to stay up to date with what is going on with the book, and the series.  I had a lot of fun working on the illustrations for this book, and the author, Kirk Jackson was so great to work with!

These pictures of the finished product are from the book's Facebook page.

Power in Numbers

A few weeks ago, Gallery Nucleus asked me to contribute a cut-paper piece to their Power in Numbers show! It's not up on their site yet, but this is my piece:

Vacation Sketch

We recently got back from vacation, but it already seems so long ago! Here are a couple things I doodled by the pool:

We also brought back a beautiful little piece of art made from dyed straw stuck to beeswax. If I can tear my eyes away from it long enough to find my camera, I'll try to get a good picture and post it!

Has someone not told the weather that it's supposed to be spring?

Coffee Drawings

Last Friday I went across the street and drew some people! I had to shake off some of the rust, but it was a lot of fun! I'm looking forward to going out again tomorrow. Here are a few pages from Friday:

The Good Fairies of New York

I read the book The Good Fairies of New York a while back. It's a wonderfully strange book, with some really interesting characters. Last weekend I decided to paint a few of them!

Guess Who?

It's been awhile, but I made this guy last weekend! I wanted to try making a paper frame again - I haven't been able to find a shadowbox type frame that is deep enough without feeling bulky, so I think I'll keep making them for now.
